Tanker with hose reels
Meprozet’s flexible approach enables us to offer customers solutions tailored to individual requirements. It was for a client in this market that the company prepared another interesting proposition for municipal operators: the PN-50 Mini vacuum tanker equipped with a washing bar and hose-reel units for watering. The unit is based on the standard PN-50 Mini slurry tanker with a 5,000-litre capacity. It uses a proven self-supporting tank design mounted on a single-axle running gear, and the drawbar for this machine is hot-dip galvanised.
The tanker’s basic capabilities have been extended by the addition of a pump set. The package comprises two pumps: a vacuum pump with an air flow of 6,000 l/min and a centrifugal pump with a flow rate of 3,000 l/min and pressure up to 5 bar. Both pumps are coupled via a gear transmission and driven from the tractor’s power take-off (PTO).
The main working element is a 3-metre spray bar. Removable spray nozzles are fitted along the full width of the bar, and the set includes several performance levels. Water discharged by the nozzles is directed onto specially shaped breaker fingers that diffuse the jet, enabling an even coverage of the sprayed surface. In addition to the spray bar, the tanker is equipped with two pivoting hose reels for watering. The hoses are 1 inch in diameter and 20 metres long, substantially increasing the working reach. They can be used to spray areas that are difficult to access; thanks to the relatively high water pressure and the use of a fire-fighting nozzle at the hose end, even stockpiles (for example, aggregates) can be wetted. With this equipment the unit can also be used for watering amenity planting. The pump’s high output allows both hose reels to be used simultaneously. When operated by two people, the time needed to complete a given task is greatly reduced.
There are three ways to fill the tank: by vacuum filling with the vacuum pump (drawing water from, for example, a pond), from a hydrant via the rear fire-fighting couplings, or via the top fill hatch. To facilitate access to the top hatch, a hot-dip galvanised ladder is mounted on the side of the tanker. A vehicle equipped in this way will certainly find applications across the domestic market. An additional advantage may be European type approval under Regulation No. 167/2013, permitting registration in any EU member state.
