History

Our history begins in the 1920s, when Stanisław Helwig started a business in Czempiń trading as "Agricultural Machinery and Repair Workshops". In the mid-1930s, he relocated the company to premises at 7 Gostyńska Street in Kościan. After the Second World War, the works, which at the time employed eleven people, was forcibly placed under state administration.

The nationalised company began manufacturing equipment and apparatus for distilleries and other agricultural processing plants. The works changed hands and names several times. In 1966, the enterprise took up the construction and installation of forage dryers, and later potato and beet dryers.

The growing works needed more space and larger production facilities to accommodate a greater number of employees. Towards the end of the 1960s, the decision was therefore taken to relocate the enterprise to a four-hectare site at 71 Gostyńska Street, where the works operates to this day.

In the 1970s, the new plant began manufacturing slurry tankers. The licence was purchased from the German company HOLZ. The first tanker, with a capacity of 2,800 cubic metres, was built in Kościan at the end of 1972 and was the very first slurry tanker ever produced in Poland. This marks the beginning of the modern history of Meprozet in Kościan, which ultimately focused on producing its highly successful slurry tankers, affectionately known to farmers as "Meprozetki".
