Municipal Water Tanker for Green Area Irrigation
Watering urban green spaces and roadside vegetation in an era of climate change poses no small challenge. Regional water resource problems are forcing municipal enterprises to invest in equipment capable of transporting water to areas where it is in short supply.
Meprozet Kościan has been successfully offering water transport tanks on the domestic market for many years. Initially, they were intended for the distribution of drinking water. Over time, however, the functionality of the tanks has been extended to include animal drinking troughs and a system for the maintenance of urban green spaces. More recently, the proven design has gained yet another practical function. At the customer's request, a special attachment for irrigating urban vegetation has been incorporated into the tanker. This unique solution, combined with a 5,000-litre tank, can be used for watering shrubs along park paths, young trees alongside roads, and hedgerows. The design of the attachment is very simple, which means that investing in such a solution does not entail high costs. The device consists of two 4-inch pipes and two 5/4-inch hoses, stiffened with rod springs and terminated with special working nozzles. The upper pipe is bolted at one end to the rear gate valve of the access hatch; at the other end, it is connected to the lower pipe by means of a Perrot quick-release coupling. At the bottom, the second component branches out into the spreading hoses. Thanks to the ball valves fitted at the branch point, water can be directed to one side or the other. Connecting the two pipes with a quick-release coupling allows the attachment to be easily and quickly disconnected, freeing up the tanker for other tasks. The wire springs hold the hoses in the correct position while also protecting the device from damage should it snag on a tree or other obstacle. The working nozzles direct the water stream straight to the base of trees and shrubs, gently breaking up the jet. Breaking up the stream prevents the soil from being washed away from around the plants and increases the working width. To power the device, a hydraulically driven centrifugal pump, familiar from the urban green space maintenance system, has been employed. It delivers adequate output and is durable, ensuring reliable operation of the vehicle for many years.
